ADVERTISEMENT FOR MASTER DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP AT MAKERERE UNIVERSITY
Innovations for accelerating reduction in maternal, newborn and child mortality in post conflict Uganda: Project number 344-2014:
The Governments of Uganda and Sweden have renewed research cooperation agreement for five years (2015 – 2020). The main objective of the bilateral research cooperation is to increase the capacity of Makerere and Partner public Universities to generate knowledge and promote research uptake for national and regional development.
The Sida 344 project aims at building academic capacity for leadership, skills and evidence to address maternal, newborn and child health issues in order to accelerate efforts to achieve SDG targets. We hope to do so by training PhD students, postdocs, and masters’ students of midwifery for Makerere, Gulu and Lira Universities.
The Directorate of Research and Graduate Training, Makerere University invites applications for Scholarships to the Master degree in Midwifery, for the Academic Year 2017/2018.
APPLICATION AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP
MASTER DEGREE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STAFF FROM GULU/LIRA UNIVERSITY
(2 SCHOLARSHIPS)
Staff development scholarships are available for Master Degree programmes in Midwifery and Women’s Health tenable at Makerere University College of Health Sciences in Uganda starting Academic year 2017/2018. The general application requirements of Makerere University will apply.
Other requirements include:
- Possession of Bachelors degree in Nursing or equivalent from a recognized university
- Should have a valid practicing license with the relevant professional body.
- Willingness to serve in Gulu/Lira Universities
Admission to the Midwifery and Women’s Health Masters degree programme at Makerere University is an added advantage
In addition: they should show:
- Evidence of employment at Gulu/Lira University
- Evidence of study leave from the employing university (if applicable)
- Age limit not exceeding 40 years (Female 45 years) at the time of application
- Female applicants are encouraged to apply
